We’re excited to announce the launch of ScoutIQ 2 Beta, a complete redesign of our popular mobile scouting app. This new version brings a modernized interface, smarter decision-making tools, and a foundation for expanding beyond books into new product categories.
Why We Built ScoutIQ 2
Our journey to ScoutIQ 2 began with a vision to fundamentally transform how sellers scout products in the field. While the original ScoutIQ has served our community well, we recognized several opportunities for improvement that could significantly impact your scouting efficiency and profitability.
First, we wanted to modernize the design to create a more intuitive experience. The mobile scouting landscape has evolved dramatically since we first launched, and we knew our interface needed to keep pace with these changes.
Second, we heard from countless sellers about the need for faster decision-making. When you’re in a bookstore, thrift shop, or warehouse sale, every second counts. The ability to quickly understand data and make informed buying decisions directly impacts your bottom line.
Finally, we recognized that the future of scouting extends far beyond books. By rebuilding our infrastructure from the ground up, we’ve created a foundation that will allow us to expand into non-book categories, opening up exciting new sourcing opportunities for our users.
This development also represents an important strategic direction for our product ecosystem. ScoutIQ 2 will eventually become our unified scouting platform, replacing Scoutify with a more powerful, versatile solution.
A Guided Experience for New Users
One of the biggest challenges for new sellers has always been the learning curve associated with scouting tools. ScoutIQ 2 addresses this head-on with a comprehensive walkthrough experience for first-time users:
Step-by-Step Guidance: When you first download the app, ScoutIQ 2 guides you through setup with simple, clear instructions.
Direct Amazon Connection: For the first time, connect your Amazon account directly through the mobile app—no need to go through your desktop.
Built-In Education: Learn as you go with integrated explanations of key metrics and scouting concepts.
Demystifying Critical Metrics
Understanding eScore and Sales Rank shouldn’t require memorization or guesswork. ScoutIQ 2 provides context with every scan:
Visual eScore Range: See exactly where a product’s eScore falls within the overall range, with clear visual indicators of good versus marginal scores.
Sales Rank Percentiles: We’re now displaying what percentile of popularity the product falls under within its category, next to the best seller rank—making it immediately clear if a product is a top seller or a slow mover.
Offers-Based Analysis: We now display the total number of offers on a product, along with a visual indicator of competition. Since items with fewer sellers typically move faster, this insight helps you quickly gauge whether a product is likely to sell quickly—or if it’s in a crowded market with slower turnaround.
These contextual insights allow even new sellers to make confident decisions without having to memorize complex scoring systems.
Enhanced Analytics at Your Fingertips
Under the Home Tab, we’ve significantly expanded the analytics capabilities:
Custom Date Filtering: Select any date range directly in the mobile app to analyze your scouting performance during specific periods.
Comprehensive Metrics: View accepted scans and all standard performance indicators within your selected timeframe, giving you deeper insights into your sourcing strategy.
Speed Mode with Rewind
Speed is essential when working through large inventory, but sometimes you need to double-check a scan. We’ve solved this dilemma with:
Scan History During Speed Sessions: Access snapshots of all previous scans within your current speed session.
Review Without Slowing Down: Quickly reference past items without interrupting your workflow or needing to rescan products.
Customizable Pricing Fallbacks
ScoutIQ 2 includes one of our most requested features: the ability to handle situations when pricing data is unavailable.
Default Recommendation Setting: Pre-select a recommendation type that will override trigger logic when pricing data is missing.
Custom Fallback Price: Alternatively, set a default price that will be used in calculations when actual pricing isn’t available.
This ensures you’ll always get actionable recommendations, even in challenging data situations.
Buy Cost for Hidden Mode
For teams using Hidden Mode, we’ve significantly improved how buy costs are managed:
Team Member Buy Cost Entry: Previously, team managers had to create triggers with predetermined buy costs for team members in Hidden Mode, then instruct them not to purchase items above a certain price. Now, team members can enter actual buy costs themselves directly in the app.
More Accurate ROI Calculations: This eliminates the need for “fake” buy costs in triggers and ensures ROI calculations reflect true acquisition costs.
Maintained Privacy: All this happens while still keeping pricing information hidden from the team member, preserving your sourcing strategy.
What’s Coming Next
ScoutIQ 2 Beta represents the first phase of our vision for the future of mobile scouting. As we continue to develop, you can look forward to:
Continued eScore performance improvements
Expansion into non-book categories
Additional customization options
Enhanced integration with your selling platforms
